WIDER: EAGER-Catalyzing wide scale innovation: Creating the conditions for viral transformation

Project Summary We propose to prove the concept that institutions of higher education can intentionally undergo a benevolent, spontaneous epidemic change toward cultures of transformational teaching and learning innovation. The type of innovating that we are referring to is that which expands the presently accepted boundaries of recognized ways of knowing, doing and being to encompass new practices and dispositions. It is disruptive to the incumbent traditions by nature. We posit that the evidence of reaching the postulated institutional “tipping point” will be early signs of wide-spread transformative teaching and learning in the institutional narrative, which we will collect and analyze. These narratives will be made transparent via web interface in near-real time as a way of creating a systemic rapid feedback loop.
